Morgan Stanley helps local food bank fight hunger

SAN JOSE, Calif.

On Tuesday, 25 Morgan Stanley employees packed boxes of groceries at the Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose. It is part of a national effort by Morgan Stanley called "Fill the Plate."

The banking firm has committed $5 million to help food banks feed families all across the country.

"Over the past two years, we've seen a 31 percent increase in the number of folks in Silicon Valley who need help and specifically need food. We estimate that one in four families locally are at risk for hunger," Kathy Jackson from Second Harvest Food Bank said.

The food bank tries to provide needy families with 120 pounds of food once a month.
