Good Housekeeping's best toys for kids 8 and up

Hundreds of toys were tested by both engineers and kids at the Good Housekeeping Institute. Ranking high on the list is the remote controlled Tonkas.

"Kids love remote controlled toys and this one from Tonka did really well in our tests. With the push of a button it comes up and then can come right back down again. It can bump into almost anything and just keep going," said Stacy Genovese of Good Housekeeping.

For the future chemist in your life, there's a unique chemistry set:The Wild Science Perfect Perfume Laboratory lets kids make their own fragrances and perfumes. And if you know young ones who love playing a spy, Jakk's Pacific Spy Net Video Watch is a working video camera.

"Everyone remembers playing paddle ball as a kid and this year Bop It has come out with a new electronic version that the kids just loved in our tests. It has games built-in and gets you to do things like how high you can get the ball or how many times you can hit it," said Genovese.
