Many familiar faces were helping ring in the holidays while raising money for the Salvation Army in San Francisco's Union Square Friday.

ABC7's own Arts and Entertainment reporter Don Sanchez got into the act Friday morning in front of Macy's.

2010 marks the 30th year local celebrities ring bells to encourage folks to toss coins and bills into the Salvation Army kettle.

The Salvation Army says the bell ringing tradition started in San Francisco in the 1890's before going global.
