Study: Breastfed boys do better in school

Researchers in Australia say kids who were predominantly breastfed for six months or longer had significantly-higher tests scores on math, reading and spelling, than children who were breastfed for shorter periods or given formula.

However, researchers say the results appear to be much stronger for boys than for girls. Studies have long shown that breastfeeding is beneficial for both mother and newborn.

The results are published online in "Pediatrics."
