Violence breaks out over Air Jordans

Police had to break up a crowd of about 80 shoppers outside Foot Locker at Sun Valley Mall. The reason is because of a special Air Jordan promotion shortly before midnight. The trouble started when some people tried to cut in line. A 20-year-old woman was arrested in the melee.

Shoppers in Florida and Texas also came to blows over the Michael Jordan basketball shoes. Hundreds of people waited in line for hours to get the $175 Air Jordans.

The crowd started to get out of control just before the doors opened early this morning at the Deerbrook Mall in Humble, Texas.

"They are bomb rushing, running in, and pushing in everybody out the way in line so they can get them or get a chance to get them," says Treveon Davis, an Air Nike shopper.

Police used pepper spray to restore order at another mall in mesquite, Texas when shoppers rushed a store entrance. The Town East Mall says it is evaluating the incident and will review its policies for the introduction of popular products.
