Kids receive toys thanks to last minute donations

SAN MATEO, Calif.

The Health and Human Services Agency experienced a 40 percent decrease in toy donations, while also experiencing a 100 percent increase in children on its list to receive toys this year.

It appealed to the media for help last Monday. We aired the story on ABC7, and by Thursday, every child had a gift.

"Immediately our phones started ringing, people went online and had toys delivered here which we've never seen before, the response was incredible," Cindy Zbin from Samaritan House said.

The community came through with about $2,800 toys in four days. Wells Fargo also donated a check for $5,000.
