The California Street line, which runs from the foot of market to Nob Hill, will be closed until July.
Crews will be replacing worn-out underground electrical and mechanical components. They'll also replace concrete roadways in the area, repave California Street, replace sewers, among other projects.
The project is expected to cost $16 million and will no doubt create driving issues through the Financial District for the next several months.
