Mother arrested for child endangerment

VACAVILLE, Calif.

Brandy Lynn Stevens was arrested for child endangerment at her East Hemlock Street house around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Ian Schmutzler said.

Stevens said she left her daughter alone in the home while she went to the store and a friend's house Saturday. She said the girl was missing when she returned home, Schmutzler said.

A police officer found the girl barefoot and in her pajamas standing in the 100 block of nearby West Street, Schmutzler said. It was 38 degrees and light rain was falling at the time, he said.

Stevens had been drinking alcohol and she was arrested for child endangerment, Schmutzler said. She was booked into the Solano County jail for misdemeanor willful cruelty of a child, according to the jail booking log.

The 3-year-old girl and her 4-year-old sister and 5-year-old brother were turned over to Solano County Child Welfare Services.
