Fifth car recovered in search for Cardenas

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department is downgrading the AMBER Alert for 4-year-old Juliani Cardenas.

It is no longer a statewide search and only includes the Central Valley and San Jose.

Divers suspended their search Saturday of a canal near the town of Patterson until Monday. Police say they believe a car linked to the kidnapping is in the canal.

Despite pulling out a fifth car Saturday, the sheriff says all leads point to that specific stretch of canal.

"We have a very credible witness. We just still haven't been able to locate the car yet and there's still work to do," said Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson.

Divers have been using a sonar device to search for the gray Toyota driven by Jose Esteban Rodriguez, the ex-boyfriend of Juliani's mother, who is suspected of kidnapping the boy.

The car linked to Juliani's kidnapping is a silver Toyota Corolla with license number 6HBW445. Anyone who sees it is asked to call police immediately.
