The Police Department's bomb squad responded to the north parking lot of the elementary school, located at 2355 San Juan Ave., after receiving a report of a suspicious package, Lt. Mark Covington said.
Police evacuated residents on Alvarado Avenue and closed San Juan Avenue to traffic while they investigated the package, Covington said.
The school was not evacuated. School staff members were notified and students were expected to remain inside, police said.
Details about what was in the package or how the situation was resolved were not immediately available.
