Investigators say the man a San Jose police officer shot and killed on Tuesday was coming after cops with knives.

Construction workers chased the suspect up a hill off Mount Pleasant Road because they believed he'd stolen some of their tools.

They called police and officers say the man refused to put down at least two knives. They tased him, but say it didn't stop him.

An officer says he shot the man twice to protect a fellow cop.

The suspect's name has not yet been released.
