Diabetes during pregnancy a long-term risk

Diabetes in pregnancy can be a risk for moms later in life.

About half the women who have had gestational diabetes end up with full-fledged diabetes. That is why it is important they get a follow-up test within six months of delivery.

Researchers at Quest Diagnostics studied the records of more than 900,000 pregnant women. Their findings are published in the journal "Obstetrics and Gynecology."
