Walnut Creek bans bounce houses from city parks

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.

The Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission banned them from city parks Monday night. Budget cuts have reduced staffing levels, making it difficult to process the necessary permit applications. Permits are necessary because the jumpy houses were damaging grass, so they were only allowed on hard surfaces. Vendors also needed liability insurance.

Neighboring cities of Pleasanton, Danville and Clayton have passed similar bans.
