He is of African-American descent, he was a star golfer at Stanford and he is not Tiger Woods -- meet rookie Joseph Bramlett. Bramlett, who grew up in Saratoga, is trying to show he belongs on the PGA Tour.
On the final hole of this year's PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, Bramlett made a putt to earn his PGA Tour card. He joins Woods as the only players on tour of African-American descent.
"It definitely means something to me because there's nobody else out here right now. So I think between me and Tiger, hopefully we can play well and keep this thing going and hopefully inspire some young kids to come out and join us," says Bramlett.
This 22-year-old is living a dream earning just over $10,000 in two events and he welcomes the next level of competition.
"As competitors, that's what we thrive for, you're constantly seeking better competition and tougher competition and I don't think I could ask for much more on a PGA tour right now so it's an awesome experience for me."
When asked what it felt like coming back home to the Bay Area, he said, "It's not every week you get to play in your hometown almost so it's very exciting to have my family around and everything going on. "
This Stanford grad hopes to play on the weekend for the first time on tour.
