The home of Walnut Creek parents whose teenage son died in a rafting accident was burglarized while they were attending a private memorial service on Thursday.

The family of Matthew Miller returned home to find someone had smashed a window by the front door, and taken several items.

Matthew, 16, and his friend 17-year-old Gavin Powell drowned Saturday while trying to raft a rain-swollen creek.

Friends say the family of Powell cannot afford a funeral. A memorial fund has been set up at the Bank of America in Alamo.
