Cyclist remains critical after hit-and-run

SAN JOSE, Calif.

The cyclist, 41-year-old David Garcia, was hit at about 10:10 a.m. on Crucero Drive and Dubert Lane, Sgt. Jason Dwyer said.

Dwyer said that when officers arrived, they found the Garcia down in the street next to his bicycle.

He was taken to San Jose Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for a head trauma. Today he remains in critical condition in the hospital's intensive care unit, but he is expected to survive, Dwyer said.

The vehicle that struck Garcia might have been similar to a white Plymouth Voyager, Dwyer said. It was last seen traveling south on Crucero Drive.

Dwyer said the collision happened in a residential area near where Garcia lives.
