Palm Beach Florida now is charging motorists $5 per hour to park at meters in popular locations. That's $1.50 more than the highest rate in San Francisco. The Palm Beach town council jacked up rates to make up a budget shortfall. That surprised a lot of tourists.
"Is that $5 for an hour or $5 for a day?" asked Palm Beach tourist Rui Domingos.
In San Francisco by comparison, the highest rate at a meter is $3.50 per hour -- that's in the busy financial district.
