Nearly 100 chickens are up for adoption at the Sonoma Humane Society. The two-year-old brown and red hens spent their lives producing eggs for a California egg farm. Most chickens on large farms generally produce eggs until they are about two-years-old and then are replaced. The animal sanctuary offered to take the birds. They have been evaluated by veterinarians and are all healthy.
