Bay Area braces for stormy Sunday

SACRAMENTO, Calif.

Pea-size hail fell in Santa Cruz on Saturday morning and created a racket as it hit home, roof and decks. There was enough hail for children build a small mountain out of the ice pebbles.

Heavy rains caused a small rockslide that closed one lane of Park Boulevard by Highway 13 in Oakland, but it only caused a small traffic delay. Sandbags are already being used to keep water out of local businesses in Mill Valley.

A rockslide covered one lane of River Road in Guerneville and caused traffic to snarl as one lane was used alternatively for both east and west traffic.

While the Russian River is nowhere near flood stage, its brown color does show the amount of silt coming of the hills and roads due to the heavy rains.
