Sofa purchase leaves couple less than impressed

FOSTER CITY, Calif.

Sherrie and Robert Kakareka figured they got a good deal on an $1,100 sofa and loveseat combination until they got it home. They wanted to flip the cushions to keep them evenly worn, and to their surprise, the upholstery didn't go all the way around.

Also, Robert found that sitting on one end of the couch, he tilts toward the middle and after a few weeks, the sofa and loveseat started squeaking. The couple contacted Jennifer Convertibles where they purchased the set last October. The company sent an inspector and reported there was "no manufacturer defect."

"That's when I called 7 On Your Side because I thought maybe they could help me," said.

Jennifer Convertibles said the cushions are not meant to be flipped over. Robert and Sherrie admit they didn't look under the cushions when they bought the sofas last October. The company said the couple did not mention any problem with squeaking when the inspection was done, and was unaware of that issue until 7 On Your Side contacted the company.

However, because the couple was unhappy with the purchase, Jennifer agreed to take back the sofas and refund their money, minus a re-stocking fee. So they got $860 in all.

"It's something we normally don't do, but we want to make people happy however we can."

"When 7 On Your Side got involved things started to gel thank goodness things happened when you got involved," said.

We'd like to thank Jennifer Convertibles for stepping up and working with us on this matter. The lesson here is, make sure you look over your furniture thoroughly before you buy.
