The incident began at about 1:50 a.m. at the Valero gas station at 2101 Somersville Road.
The officer was conducting a traffic stop on the parolee, later identified as 28-year-old San Francisco resident Dante Curry, for driving without headlights, Aguinaga said.
Curry allegedly gave the officer a false name, she said.
When the officer opened Curry's door to try to confirm his identity, he allegedly put his car in reverse and knocked the officer to the ground with his car door, then rammed her patrol car, Aguinaga said.
Curry then sped off with other officers in pursuit.
The car chase ended several miles away near Sequoia and Redwood drives, but Curry and a man who was riding in the passenger seat fled on foot.
The Antioch police dog caught the passenger, who was later identified as Jason King, a 33-year-old San Francisco resident.
Curry, meanwhile, jumped several fences and fled through backyards. He was eventually caught with help from the Brentwood Police Department's police dog.
Curry was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, evading a police officer and disregarding safety, resisting arrest and giving false information to a police officer, according to county jail records.
He is also being held on a parole violation and on an out-of-county warrant, both of which order him held without bail.
Aguinaga said he was on parole for weapons and explosives violations.
King was also arrested, but had not been booked into county jail as of this afternoon.
The injured officer was treated at a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, Aguinaga said.
