Thunderstorms, hail move through Vacaville and Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Calif.

A Fairfield police dispatcher reported thunderstorms with "big chunks of hail" moved through the city around 3:40 p.m.

"It went right over City Hall. It looks like it's snowing," the dispatcher said.

The storms seemed to move in from Vacaville, which is north of Fairfield, the dispatcher said.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook today for North Bay valleys in the San Francisco Bay Area, southern Salinas Valley and the Monterey Bay area.

Rain, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms with small hail and cooler temperatures were expected today, and temperatures will be in the 30s tonight, the National Weather Service said.
