4 arrested during Santa Rosa DUI checkpoint

SANTA ROSA, Calif.

The checkpoint, located at Santa Rosa and Barham avenues, was aimed at removing impaired drivers from the roadway and drawing community attention to the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, police said.

While only one DUI arrest was made, officers arrested three other motorists for driving without licenses or for having suspended licenses, according to police.

In addition to the four arrests, five traffic citations were issued and three vehicles were impounded during the checkpoint.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the state's Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Administration.
