Richmond cop resigns after gun buying scandal

RICHMOND, Calif.

The Chronicle reports the attorney for Officer Danny Harris says his client resigned under pressure.

The two scouts, Orlando Torres and Sergio Rios say they signed up for Richmond's explorer program. They were underage and the officers bought them guns needed for work, but, the men started complaining about work conditions. They say that's when the officers wanted a payback and then tried, but failed to set them up in a DUI sting.

A second officer, Ray Thomas, is fighting to keep his job and remains on paid leave. He denies any wrongdoing.
