At least a dozen dead or dying leopard sharks have washed up along Redwood City waterways over the past few days.

A leading shark researcher says real estate development along the bayfront may be to blame for the increased incidents of stranded sharks.

Researchers say sharks can easily become trapped in man-made culverts, storm drains and other canals and are concerned there will be even more stranded marine life in Bay Area water ways.
