Hackers target Osama bin Laden searches

Internet thieves are using the Osama bin Laden operation as a way to hack into computers. Jay Chaudry is the CEO of Zscaler, a cloud-based security company. He says the bad guys knew consumers would be online looking for the latest Osama bin Laden information, so they went there first.

"At the time the president was announcing the news, they had Facebook pages circulating and saying, 'If you want to see video of bin Laden being shot, click here,'" said Chaudhry.

It was all phony. Those who clicked, were taken to sites that were fake or infected and those looking for video actually ended up downloading a virus that steals passwords.

To protect yourself, stay with known news sources like ABC7 News or the New York Times.
