Man whose behavior prompted landing gets probation

PITTSBURGH

Thirty-two-year-old artist Kinman Chan apologized during his guilty plea Tuesday to interfering with the flight crew on board a US Airways flight from Philadelphia to San Francisco in January 2010.

Prosecutors say Chan's bizarre behavior began after takeoff. The crew reported Chan went to the bathroom and shouted and threw items before emerging partially clothed then elbowing a flight attendant.

Chan told investigators he is prescribed medical marijuana for carpal tunnel syndrome but took a double dose before boarding the plane.

Chan was ordered to pay the airline $6,804 in restitution.
