CDC's site crashes over zombie apocalypse blog

In a blog-post the CDC is urging Americans to prepare a kit of "The Night Of the Living Dead" ends up a reality. It says the rise of zombies in pop culture has given credence to the idea that a zombie apocalypse could happen.

The facetious post wants people to get ready for real potential disasters like hurricanes and floods.

The CDC says it used the zombie reference because it noticed a spike in traffic on its website when zombies were mentioned in passing on a Twitter post on radiation in Japan and the appeal is still strong.

The CDC website crashed because so many people wanted to see the blog.
