Fungi fans kick off Mushroom Mardi Gras Festival

MORGAN HILL, Calif.

Attendees can savor different types of mushrooms in a multitude of forms: in soup, sandwiches, marinated, stuffed, and deep-fried. Fungi aficionados can even find carved wooden mushrooms and attend educational talks about how mushrooms are grown and the latest nutritional research.

A Ms. Mushroom and Mr. Fungi will be crowned for the first time this year, organizers said.

The festival will also feature live music, children's rides and games, and booths selling art and clothing.

The event takes place in downtown Morgan Hill, and admission is free. The festival is being held today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
