Giants release "It Gets Better" video

The San Francisco Giants have become the first team in professional sports to release an "It Gets Better" video for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender young people.

Five Giants appear in the new video: Pitchers Barry Zito, Matt Cain and Sergio Romo, centerfielder Andres Torres and batting coach Bam Bam Meulens.

The video says the entire Giants organization believes there is no place in society for hatred or bullying of anyone.

The video comes after an online petition drive by lifelong Giants fan Sean Chapin.

"I'm ecstatic to see the San Francisco Giants to reach out to their entire community, not just a perceived portion of the community, but the entire community, it's absolutely wonderful," Chapin said.

There is no word yet on whether other professional sports teams plan to make their own videos, but a 12-year-old in New England has started a campaign to get the Boston Red Sox to make one.
