Documents confirm PG&E crews installed pipeline

SAN BRUNO, Calif.

Documents confirm the PG&E crews installed the pipeline that ultimately exploded in San Bruno last September. The explosion and fire killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes.

The documents are part of 225,000 pages of information the utility had been ordered to provide to investigators.

Initially, PG&E would not provide details about who installed the pipe, but the documents show PG&E employees installed the compromised pipeline as part of a construction project 55 years ago.
