Fast-moving grass fire burns 400 acres near Tracy

TRACY, Calif.

The flames burned about 400 acres near Interstate 580 and Chrisman Road in San Joaquin County. It started as a vehicle fire around 4:30 p.m., then spread to some nearby brush.

CAL FIRE says the dry conditions and high winds fueled the flames.

More than 50 crews responded to the scene while airplanes and helicopters dropped water on the flames.

Nobody was hurt.
