Four arrested over computer, electronics thefts

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.

The Friends for Youth Mentoring Institute, located at 1741 Broadway, was burglarized on July 28, Redwood City police Sgt. Sean Hart said.

The suspects pried open a rear door, entered the building, stole the equipment and left undetected, he said.

A follow-up investigation identified four suspects who ranged from 12 years old to 16 years old, Hart said. The names of the suspects, who are from Redwood City and unincorporated Redwood City, are not being released because they are juveniles.

All four were arrested around 3 p.m. today. After a search of their homes, most of the stolen property was recovered.

Hart said that none of the boys were affiliated with the mentor program or Friends for Youth, "but they probably need to be."

Anyone with additional information about the burglary is encouraged to call Redwood City police at (650) 780-7697.
