Oakland police say one person was killed and three others were injured in three separate shootings. All happened within minutes of each other.

The first shooting happened just after midnight near 79th Avenue and Arthur Street. Police say one man was killed there. The second shooting happened minutes later on the 5300 block of Foothill Boulevard. Police say one person was found shot and wounded there, but gave no specific details on the investigation. After that, police were called to 38th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard where two people had been shot. No word on the condition or identity of the victims. There's no word on suspects in any of the shootings.

The shootings come at a time when Oakland police are under heavy pressure to reduce violence in the city. There were calls for a city wide curfew and an expansion of the city's controversial gang injunction ordinance.
