Bed bugs on the rise in college dorms

With college kids heading back to the dorms for the new school year, there's something they'll need to watch for -- bed bugs.

That's what Kaitlin McNeish found waiting for her and her roommate at the dorms in Ohio Dominican University.

"My poor roommate has been scratching quite a bit," said McNeish. "She's been pretty much eaten alive."

Bed bugs are flat critters the size of an apple seed. They are brown until they bite and then they turn reddish-brown.

Bed bugs are becoming a huge problem in hotels and big city apartments back east, and it makes sense they would show up in dorms.

So tell your student to check for bugs and the tiny blood spots they leave behind.
