Two separate car-versus-pedestrian collisions on Wednesday involved young teenagers running into traffic in Livermore, Livermore police said.

The first incident at 1:46 p.m. near Ontario and El Padro drives left a 13-year-old boy with minor injuries. He is believed to have stepped into traffic and was then hit by a passing minivan, according to police. His parents took him to the hospital.

In a separate incident, police found a 14-year-old boy had run across lanes of heavy traffic around Fourth and Wood streets around 2 p.m. A Honda sedan hit the boy, who was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. He was treated for a broken leg, police said.

Police remind drivers to be especially cautious as they travel in school areas. They also remind parents to talk to children about staying safe around cars and street traffic.

Police advise pedestrians should always try to use crosswalk to cross roadways and be vigilant of all vehicles on the road.
