David Senk, 54, is facing animal cruelty charges after officers say the man took two large bites out of a large python.
Officers made the discovery when responding to a call about an assault at a house. It's still not known why Senk bit the animal.
Officers contacted animal control and veterinarians performed surgery on the snake Thursday evening. Animal control says the snake is in guarded condition but is expected to survive.
