The crash occurred at about 1 p.m. at the Famous Market and Deli at 1492 Lincoln Ave., at Linden Lane.
Gray said the driver of a beige, four-door sedan somehow lost control, and the car crashed into the building, leaving a hole in the wall. The driver was taken to Marin General Hospital with what were believed to be minor to moderate injuries, he said.
No one in the building was hurt, Gray said.
"Fortunately, it appeared that everyone was OK," he said.
Building inspectors were notified of the accident so that the store could be evaluated for structural soundness, he said.
No one was answering the phone at the market this afternoon.
