Suspects sought in fatal shooting of teen boy

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.

The South San Francisco boy was with two other teenagers in the 600 block of First Lane at about 8:50 p.m. when as many as four suspects drove up in a black 2004 or 2005 four-door Honda Civic or Accord, police Sgt. Joni Lee said.

At least one of the suspects opened fire on the three boys, wounding two of them, Lee said.

Both victims were taken to a hospital, where Maharaj died from his wounds, Lee said. The second is expected to survive.

Investigators are trying to determine if the gunshots were fired from inside the vehicle, or if the suspects got out of the car and approached the victims on foot.

The shooting remains under investigation.
