Hazmat situation under control in San Jose

There was a dicey situation in South San Jose Tuesday night when there was a gas leak on a PG&E trailer.

There was a dicey situation in South San Jose Tuesday night. There was a gas leak on Malech and Metcalf Roads.

Hazmat officials say the leak came from a cylinder of compressed gas on a PG&E trailer. The utility is doing construction in the area.

Nearby buildings were briefly evacuated as a precaution, but a public safety alert was not issued. Hazmat teams cleared the scene shortly after 9 p.m.
