Japan hopes to target tourists with free plane tickets

The country's tourism agency wants to give-away 10,000 free roundtrip plane tickets trips to foreigners.

The number of visitors to Japan is down 50 percent since the devastating earthquake and tsunami last March.

The idea must first be approved by Japanese lawmakers. If it is, the tourism agency will launch a website in April to solicit applicants.

There is a catch: anyone who enters must be willing to publicize their trip on blogs or social media.
