Laptops stolen from Marin County school

MARIN COUNTY, Calif.

The theft was reported by the school's principal Monday around 8:25 a.m., Lt. Barry Heying said.

The computers were in the library at the K-5 school at 117 East Strawberry Drive in Strawberry, Heying said.

The burglars pried open a locked door and took a white steel cart that contained the Apple MacBook laptops, which are valued at $1,300 each, Heying said.

The cart was heavy enough to require two people to lift it, Heying said.

The cart was recovered after a woman reported finding it Tuesday on a hiking trail on Panoramic Highway, but the computers were gone Heying said.

Heying said the cart was found about 100 yards down a trailhead near Panoramic Highway and Sequoia Valley Road, east of Muir Woods.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the sheriff's office at (415) 499-7233 or Bay Area Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
