SAN FRANCISCO --San Francisco's Mexican Museum is getting nearly $1 million to build a new home. The $800,000 grant from the California Cultural and Historical Endowment will pay for the design and the development of a 40,000 square foot building on Jesse Square. The museum is currently housed in a temporary space at the Fort Mason center. The new facility will allow the museum to showcase over 14,000 works of art. It should be completed in 2016.
