Study: Day of the week can give you cheaper deals

Discount shopping site ExtraBux.com has run the numbers on its users and retailers and found you can save 10 to 11 percent by simply shopping on a different day of the week. And get this -- the best deals vary by category.

"Most electronics are cheapest to online on Mondays and that includes computers, TVs, video games, cameras. They are cheapest to buy on Mondays and typically get more expensive throughout the week, where they hit a high on Friday. Then something like jewelry is cheapest on Wednesday and most expensive later in the week," said Jeff Nobbs from ExtraBux.com.

Books are cheaper on Saturday, appliances on Sunday.

There are two reasons for most of this: the days manufacturers offer discounts and the days when most shoppers are hunting down a particular item.
