Bicyclist struck by car, seriously injured

SAN JOSE, Calif.

The victim, a 44-year-old San Jose man, was riding across Tully Road between La Ragione and Galveston avenues when he was struck by a four-door Ford traveling east on Tully Road around 6:50 p.m.

He was taken to Regional Medical Center of San Jose with injuries that were potentially life-threatening, police said.

The driver of the Ford remained at the scene after the accident and has been cooperating with investigators.

There is no indication that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to police.

Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians are reminded to be aware of their surroundings and to take into consideration the recent time change, which has made commuting hours darker.
