Funeral services held for Chester McGlockton

HAYWARD, Calif.

The service at Glad Tidings Church in Hayward was more of a celebration of McGlockton's life outside of football, than a solemn goodbye. The funeral was attended by former teammates like Tim Brown and Howie Long, as well as members of the Stanford Football team. McGlockton was an assistant coach at Stanford.

"Chester was a fan favorite in all of our summer camps, whether it was high school or the little kids. When Chester said something people listened," said Stanford Coach David Shaw.

"He did things like help me with homework. He helped me when I was hurt. He helped me feel encouraged. He was a great dad and I love him more than you can ever imagine," said Skylar McGlockton, his daughter.

"I will miss our conversations. I will miss my friend. I already do," said Long.

The four-time pro-bowler will be buried in his home state of North Carolina. A cause of death still has not been announced.
