Confiscated clothes donated to families in need

OAKLAND, Calif.

California Labor Commissioner Julie Su is donating the clothes confiscated to families from St. Vincent de Paul's job training programs, who were invited to make the first selection of the clothing items.

"Such items should not make it into the stream of commerce. They are not allowed to be sold and so we seize them, we confiscate them and then we turn around at the holidays and donate them to a center where they can be used by people who need them," said Su.

The Labor Commissioner is responsible for removing from commerce any garments that are illegally manufactured, and must either destroy or donate them.
