Salvation Army volunteer breaks record for bell ringing

SAN FRANCISCO

Butch Soriano of Pacifica stood in front of the Macy's department store in San Francisco's Union Square for 51 hours, 10 minutes and 25 seconds to break the record for bell-ringing.

Soriano broke the previous record of 36 hours, but he didn't set a new one -- there are still five ringers around the country that continue to go at it.

Soriano ended the competition sore and hungry, as the contestants aren't allowed food during the competition.
