Verizon says it's fixed 4G service problem

SAN FRANCISCO

The company's 4G cellphone data service went down early Wednesday morning, causing thousands of customer complaints from around the nation. Verizon says voice calls, texts and 3G data were not affected.

Engineers fixed the problem around 11 a.m., and service was back for everyone by this afternoon.

Verizon has not explained the cause of the problem.

It's the company's second high-profile service problem this month.
