One dead, two injured in four shootings in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif.

The fatal shooting occurred shortly before midnight Saturday, when a man was shot in his car, police said.

The victim was fired on by three suspects standing on the sidewalk in the 8600 block of D Street, according to police. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two other shootings were reported on Christmas Day, but only one resulted in injuries, police said.

The first happened at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday near the corner of Fruitvale Avenue and East 27th Street.

The victim in that shooting drove himself to a hospital, an Oakland police officer said. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The second shooting occurred that afternoon, when several people were fired on in the 7500 block of Rudsdale Street. None of those victims required medical attention, police said.

Another shooting injured one person early this morning.

The victim in that shooting drove himself to Alameda after he was shot in the 1300 block of Webster Street around 12:30 a.m., according to police.

Alameda police found the victim and called an ambulance for him, police said. He was said to be in stable condition.
